DONNA CONINGSBY

Donna Jo Coningsby has practiced patent law for over 20 years. After nearly 15 years of practicing with a patent boutique in the Silicon Valley, Donna joined Compass IP Law in 2018 where she works with clients to protect their intellectual property in computer software, hardware and communication technologies. In addition to private practice, Donna served as senior patent counsel to a digital entertainment technology company.

Donna has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications, both domestic and foreign, in a variety of technologies, including computer architecture, semi-conductor packaging, storage, communications, network devices and protocols, audio, video and image processing, electromechanical devices and consumer electronics.

Prior to practicing patent law Donna was a systems and application programmer for large corporations for over 10 years. She combines her extensive background in technology with her knowledge of patent law to provide clients with high quality patent procurement services and counseling in related matters.

Donna is a former Chair of the Computer and Internet Law Section of the Oregon State Bar. She graduated from the University of Rochester, New York with a Bachelor of Science degree concentrating in Mathematics. She pursued her technology career with large corporations prior to attending Northeastern University School of Law in Massachusetts. Immediately after law school, Donna spent over two years practicing as a public defender and legal services attorney in New York and clerked for one year with the Alaska Superior Court in Anchorage, Alaska.
